Expression of Interest (EoI) for Hosting the Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS)
Expressions of interest are requested for universities interested in hosting the annual Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS). ACIS has been run since 1990 and is the peak AIS-affiliated conference in the Australian, New Zealand, and Oceanic regions. In recent times, ACIS has been run in physical, virtual, and hybrid modes.
Historically, ACIS has been run by single host universities, but now with virtual and hybrid modes for delivering this conference, ACIS can now be run by multiple host universities. This means that multiple universities can propose to co-host a future ACIS. We hope this may offer the opportunity for groups who might hesitate to take on the entire responsibility to participate in conference hosting. We note also that significant organisational knowledge is available from AAIS to assist hosting institutions.
The AAIS Executive is seeking written expressions of interest from universities willing to host ACIS in 2028, 2029 and 2030. The Expression of Interest template can be downloaded from https://aaisnet.org/acis-eoi-template/
There are significant benefits for departments that host or are hosting ACIS. Some of them are listed here https://aaisnet.org/services/acis/benefits-of-hosting/. A recent change to the administration of the conference sequence is that AAIS provides all the financial infrastructure to support the conference and takes on all the financial risks associated with running it. ACIS is run without the financial involvement of the host’s institution.
Offers to host a future ACIS should be submitted in writing to the ACIS Executive Committee and should include the name of the proposed host organisation (assuming a single host organisation) and the names and contact details of the proposed organising and program committee chairs. In the case of an expression of interest from a host consortium (comprising multiple institutions), all the requirements for a single organisation hosting ACIS must be provided by each consortium organisation, along with a description of any functional responsibilities to be performed by each organisation in the consortium.
