Since 2021, the AAIS has spent considerable effort in creating a workable charter for ACIS. The ACIS conference involves many activities that benefit the Australasian IS Community including the conference itself, Poster sessions, TREO sessions and a Doctoral Consortium. Tracks that constitute the conference reflect the kinds of research and teaching interests of the Australasian IS Community. This charter describes the governance arrangements and requirements for the ACIS Conference.
ACIS Conferences are coordinated by the ACIS Executive Committee, which is managed by AAIS. It is chaired by the AAIS President and requires the AAIS Secretary to take minutes and the AAIS Events and Affiliations officer to be the point of contact between the current host of the conference in any one year and the AAIS Executive. Others serving on the ACIS Executive Committee include representatives from the Australasian IS Ecosystem, including ACPHIS, PHISNZ and ACS. Along with representatives from the current ACIS Organising Committee, the ACIS Executive Committee also has representatives from the previous year’s ACIS Organising Committee to facilitate knowledge transfer, as well as a representative from what will become the next year’s ACIS Organising Committee.
Part I of the ACIS Charter describes the organising committee, meetings, communications, the conference architecture, funding, various conference committees, dissemination and publication of results, the Doctoral Consortium, prizes associated with the conference, other conference activities and insurance matters. A ratification process is required for changes made to Part I of this Charter. As of July 2024, Part II of this charter is organised using a series of Business Process Models created as part of a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) project conducted between the AAIS Executive and a group of Masters students from Queensland University of Technology (QUT). These business process models allow the AAIS to organise its procedures and documentation for specific stakeholders involved in conducting aspects of the conference.
