Virtual Communities (AAIS VC 2024)

The AAIS Virtual Communities Charter, currently under development, concerns the administrative and governance requirements for establishing, operating, and developing AAIS Virtual Communities.

Part I of the charter describes the rationale and justification for creating virtual communities, the types of virtual communities that are useful for the Australasian IS Community, the formation of Steering Committees for each virtual community, and the overall administration of AAIS Virtual Communities through the Virtual Communities Advisory Board. Part II of the charter specifies the social aspects of virtual communities (Preece 2001), their purpose, the people and policies, including community management guidelines and virtual codes of conduct.

The relationship between the IPG Model and the sociability and usability perspective on virtual communities (after Preece 2001) is shown in (b) below.
