Australasian Journal of Information Systems (AJIS)
The AAIS is the publisher for the Australasian Journal of Information Systems and is involved in its on-going development. Originally established in 1993 as a print and subscription-based journal, AJIS is now a Diamond Open Access Journal, free to read and without any article processing charges for authors.
The AAIS has developed the governance framework- see Australasian Journal of Information Systems v4.0 (AJIS 2024), the administrative structure, and the reporting infrastructure for the journal as well as financially supporting the operations of AJIS. The AJIS Charter provides policy and procedures for the operation of the journal, along with nomination, selection, and transition processes for the AJIS Editorial Team. The AAIS has a dedicated liaison role within the AAIS Executive (Publications and Membership Officer) to support AJIS.
Along with the past Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Karlheinz Kautz, the AAIS has recently developed a new management structure of AJIS, providing it with an expanded and specialised editorial team, increasing its article throughput and developing workflow innovations that will lead to an improvement in its overall ranking.
Part of AAIS’s development activities for the journal includes expanding the kinds of information that can form the basis of submissions, for example, datasets as well as articles in support of IS-relevant data science and open science. There is also an ongoing commitment to integrate AJIS more tightly into our growing regional IS community, for example, the development of mechanisms for supporting high-quality ACIS conference papers to create high-quality AJIS publications through ACIS Publication Workshops.
