Professor Karlheinz Kautz (RMIT), who has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Australasian Journal of Information Systems (AJIS) for the last three years, is stepping down from this role. Karl’s time as EiC has been critical and significant for the journal (more on this in a separate communication). Last year, Karl announced his intention to vacate the EiC position. This gave the AAIS Executive time to advertise the position and conduct interviews. The Executive thanks those who expressed their interest in this pivotal role and acknowledges the work of the Appointments Committee.
The AAIS Executive is proud to announce the appointment of new Co-editors-in-Chief for the Australasian Journal of Information Systems (AAIS). For the first time in its 35-year history, AJIS has had co-editors. They are Professor Michael Davern and Dr. Stuart Black from the University of Melbourne. Prof. Davern is Chair of Accounting and Business Information Systems, Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Melbourne, as well as being an Honorary Professor of Computing and Information Systems at the Melbourne School of Engineering. Dr. Black is Enterprise Fellow in Data Analytics, Disruption and Innovation, Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Melbourne.
The Editors-in-Chief will be part of an Editorial Team that includes two other support positions- a Production Editor (PE) who will manage the journal’s paper workflow and a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) role to support the publication software, the journal’s analytics and reporting software, and its web systems. The AAIS Executive is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Jacqui Blake, Lecturer in the School of Science, Technology and Engineering, University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, as the inaugural AJIS PE and Mr. John James, Sessional Lecturer in the Faculty of Business and Law, University of Wollongong as the inaugural AJIS CTO.
The term of the newly appointed AJIS EiCs commences on May 6th 2024. A transition period will now commence for the orderly handover between outgoing and incoming editors including software training and publication production matters. The AAIS and its members, thank Karl, Michael and Stu for their efforts in this hand over. More news to follow about AJIS.
