The AAIS is developing an engagement strategy to allow it to support its distributed Member Nations, provide knowledge about the IS Discipline to the broader community as well as to coordinate its activities as part of a larger Global Community developed by the AIS.
Member Nations
AAIS is committed to identify, support, and where necessary develop IS academic networks in our Member Nations. In part, this is conducted financially through the development and funding of IS academic community prizes, including AAIS ACIS Attendance Scholarships, amongst others. The AAIS also supports Member Nations that do not have ‘Very High’ Human Development Indexes using HDI-based costing of services for ACIS Registration and AAIS Departmental Membership.
AAIS also recognises the Cultural and Linguistic Diversity of our constituent member nations. We seek to identify and engage with first nations’ knowledge and learning using the ‘both ways’ principle (Ober and Bat 2007), especially in areas of overlap with Information Systems. Relevant areas include, but are not limited to, knowledge management, systems of memory, innovation, as well as forms of communication, decision-making and governance.
Broader Community
The AAIS shares the same mission and strategic goals as the AIS.
AAIS aims to serve society through the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of excellence in the research and practice of Information Systems. AAIS’s strategic goals are to lead and promote excellence in the Information Systems Discipline and Information Systems Scholarship and to cultivate and provide services and products to meet the diverse needs of its members and related communities.
Global IS Community
The AAIS is part of a broader Global IS Community. Our aim is to engage with and assist other AIS Chapters where possible, especially those within Region 3. We do this by means of the Activities that we engage in and the Services that we manage, improve, and develop.
